The Mayor welcomes you

I would like to
welcome you on behalf of our local government on the webpage of our community.
Our small village is situated on both sides of the river Olt, in Harghita
county. The first written documents about the community date back to 1567. The
village got its name, Szent Imre (szent meaning saint), after the son of our
first Christian king Szent Istvan (Saint Stephan I). The name suggests that the
village was founded around 1100.
Due to a young team, the community regained its independent state on March
2004. Now we can proudly tell that the village is dynamically progressing.
Several clubs, association and organizations are functioning with success as
the voluntary fire department, the senior club, Csíkisz, CSTE, a folk dance
club, Teleház (computer centre) and the Csíkszentimre Guesthouse Association.
We are very proud of Sântimbru
Băi, a mountain resort at the ridge of the mountain Harghita, which
teritorially belongs to our village. It is famous for its rare mineral water
springs, because it is very unusual to find springs and sulfurous mophettas at this hight( 1200m). All these vulcanic effects
are used in medicine by the treatment of rheumatism.
In the last 10 years there were built 750 new summer houses frequently used
from spring to autumn by those, who prefer to rest in a quiet enviroment
surrounded by nature.
We hope you will find our small village interesting to visit and you are most
welcome to see you as our guest.
